Nonprofit/Grant Consultant
My passion for helping nonprofit organizations began many years ago when I volunteered to help raise funds for the youth group at my church. What began as organization of fundraising events, evolved into grant writing.
Like most newbies to grant writing, I jumped in feet first and attempted to apply for a few grant opportunities. I was confident the funds would be received; and yes, devastated when rejected.
When it came to grant writing, I discovered perseverance was key. I read everything I could about grant funding and grant writing. I signed up for classes, attended grant writing workshops and ultimately, went back to school to obtain my Grant Consultant Certification.
While grant funding is an important part of any funding resource strategy, it is important to understand that an overall, balanced stream of revenue, also includes fundraising, individual donations, sponsorships, partnerships, and more.
What is the role of a grant consultant versus a grant writer?
Grant writers are responsible for writing persuasive proposals, ensuring the application process is complete and the application is submitted by the deadline.
A grant consultant can help organizations identify grant opportunities, provide grant research and writing training for staff and volunteers, and develop strategic plans for sustainability and growth.
